Ndaba Mandela's inspires at 2024 BlackNorth Gala
The BlackNorth Initiative Excellence gala with the theme African Renaissance took place at The Westin Harbour Castle on May 25, 2024. Influential leaders, attendees, and sponsors gathered for an evening of inspiration and recognition.
The keynote speaker, Ndaba Mandela gave a speech which impacted everyone in attendance profoundly. His remarks, which emphasized the value of unity, tenacity, and cultural legacy, struck a profound chord.
He echoed the words of his grandfather, the legendary Nelson Mandela: "To be free is not merely to cast off one's chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others."
Distinguished speakers at the gala included Mike Fernandez, Chief Justice Michael Tulloch, Thandiwe Fadane, The Honorable Ahmed Hussen, Wes Hall, Foubder of Black North Initiative and Dahabo Ahmed Omer, CEO of the BlackNorth Initiative. African-inspired performances, and a fashion show added colour to the gala.
The presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Awards was one of the evening's highlights. Enbridge presented Dr. Brandeis Denham Jolly with an award for his exceptional accomplishments, while the BlackNorth Initiative presented an award to Dr. Masai Ujiri, Chairman of the Raptors.
